This year is the 10 year anniversary of the Paddle! We are planning a record turn out and need your support!
This year’s Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation “Paddle for a Cause” event is just around the corner. On Saturday, June 10, 2017, the tradition will continue when a flotilla of paddlers will leave the Golden Nugget Marina Farley State Marina to embark upon the 10th annual “Paddle for a Cause” on a 22.5 mile course around Absecon Island. We will also continue to host an alternative, shorter back-bay course for those only wanting to paddle 8 or 4 miles.
We can not host this event with out you! Support boats and wave runners play a critical role in supporting our paddlers as they circle Absecon Island. Please come out and volunteer your day on the water with some amazing people.
Every boat will receive two tickets to the after party. The Golden Nugget at Farley State Marina will also provide all boats and wave runners free access to dock your vessel on both Friday and Saturday night, June 9 and 10. There is a shower facility and restrooms on site to use.
Some of you will be stationed at strategically located points along the course to make sure that the paddlers steer in the right direction. Others of you will be traveling the course as “roamers” or with specified relay teams working out of your boat.
We will need three to four boats and wave runners that are capable of running in the ocean, so if you can do this leg please let me know.
We would ask each of you to confirm back us that you will or won’t be participating in this year’s event. Also, if you know of any other captains with boats or personal water-crafts who would like to join our effort, please have them contact us.
Once we tally up and identify the participating vessels, we will be making the specific assignments and communicating with you by future emails.
We also have a Captain’s meeting planned, which will be the night before the event at the Golden Nugget deck. At that time, we will finalize the course assignments, provide you with provisions for the paddlers and safety equipment, and enjoy the sunset together overlooking the Farley Marina.
